Frankfurt: Designs for high-rises on Degussa area chosen

DIC Deutsche Immobilien Chancen and the City of Frankfurt am Main have shortlisted four designs for two office high-rises in the large-scale project called “MainTor”. For the 100 m tall “WinX” building, they will choose between designs drafted by KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten and those submitted by Christoph Mäckler Architekten. For the construction of the 64 m tall “MainTor Panorama” building, the jury decided in favor of the designs drafted by Christoph Mäckler Architekten and Dudler Happ Architects. It was announced that during the coming weeks, DIC is going to further evaluate the results and have them slightly revised. A definitive decision is to be made in mid-February, at the latest. A new urban quarter with a total of approximately 100,000 sqm of gross floor area is planned for the 21,000 sqm former Degussa premises. The total investment volume amounts to around €500mn.
