Aurelis builds college in “Duisburger Freiheit”


North Rhine-Westphalia’s college for public administration is renting a future building with a gross floor area of 31,220 sqm in “Quartier 1” in the “Duisburger Freiheit” office park project. The owner is Aurelis, which is investing €70mn in the project located near Duisburg’s main railway station. The new college facility will have 61 classrooms, a library, cafeteria, faculty and administration offices, and 398 below-ground parking spaces. Construction is due to start in 2020 with completion scheduled for mid-2022. The plans were designed by the Cologne architects Heinle, Wischer und Partner. Drees & Sommer is providing project management. Construction is being carried out by Hochtief. Aurelis has three more plots in Duisburg’s “Quartier 1”.
