Barkow Leibinger designs Berlin office tower for Hamburg Team

Hamburg Team intends to develop a 17-story office building and apartments in Berlin, at the intersection of Kurfürstenstraße and Schillstraße/An der Urania. The project has now been awarded to the Berlin firm Barkow Leibinger in an architectural competition. The design calls for “five fan-shaped components with a vertically structured natural stone facade and glass elements extending to the floor”. Two adjoining residential buildings are being planned alongside the office tower; these will include some subsidized residential space as well as retail and restaurants on the ground floor. The owner of the 2,940 sqm property at Kurfürstenstraße 72-74 is Jahr Holding from Hamburg. A development plan being prepared most recently recorded a total of 18,825 sqm of floor space; this may be put into motion at the end of 2020. The other corner plots, located in the city’s Tiergarten and Schöneberg districts, are also to be redeveloped.
