Bochum looking for new investor for city center lot
BaseCamp Student GmbH will not be developing the apartment tower near the main station in the city center of Bochum. “Due construction cost developments, we cannot take on this ambitious project at this time,” says Managing Director Andreas Junius, adding that he would still consider implementing the plans if and when the market situation relaxes. The student housing tower with up to 400 rooms was to be built on a 1,430 sqm lot owned by the city’s economic development department. Department Director Ralf Meyer is confident that a new investor will be found for the lot. Alternative developments, a hotel for instance, are also possible. There is currently a parking garage on the site, which will be demolished and replaced with a new structure behind the housing tower. “We are holding firm to our plans of having the site ready for development soon,” says Meyer.
