Cologne’s expo builds a new headquarters
The supervisory board of Koelnmesse AG has agreed to management’s plans to build a new HQ in Cologne. As the expo operator states, a new building for 700 employees is to be constructed on the Messe’s own lot on Deutz-Mülheimer-Straße 109 across from the current headquarters in the Messe tower. The existing office building will be demolished to make room for the new structure. Koelnmesse will now work with JLL to begin planning the new office building, which is to be completed by 2025. The firm is still contractually bound to its current HQ in the Messe tower on Deutz-Mülheimer-Straße 111 until 2025, which has been owned by Aroundtown since last year. The parties were unable to agree on refurbishment of the building, which Koelnmesse states is in severe need of repair.
