Deutsche Hypo Index starts with a plus

The real estate climate index of Deutsche Hypo started into the new year with a plus of 4.4 % to 123 points. This balances out the losses of December (-4.3 %) and brings it back to the level of November 2018. Among the individual asset classes, the office climate saw the largest rise at +6.2 %, followed by residential (+4.1 %), logistics (+4 %), and hotel property (+3.7 %). Only commercial property lingered at a low (-0.1 %). Despite the upswing at the turn of the year, Deutsche-Hypo executive Sabine Barthauer is skeptical. Growth has lost some momentum, not everything is being bought anymore, much less financed, and the political uncertainties could have a lasting impact.
