KaDeWe owner Chirathivat confirms plans for Düsseldorf


The “Carsch-Haus” in Düsseldorf and the Leiner furniture store on Mariahilfer Straße in Vienna will become department stores of the KaDeWe Group. Tos Chirathivat, the Thai majority owner of KaDeWe has now confirmed rumors to that effect in an interview with the “Handelsblatt”. To date, the Karstadt luxury segment includes the KaDeWe in Berlin, the Alsterhaus in Hamburg, and the Oberpollinger in Munich. The “Carsch-Haus” in Düsseldorf currently houses a Saks Off 5th store. The whole building went to Signa Holding as part of the merger of Galeria Kaufhof and Karstadt. Signa Holding executive René Benko is also a minority shareholder of KaDeWe Group.
