Kiel: Urban Space plans office building on Sophienblatt

The real estate developer Urban Space is planning an office and commercial building at Sophienblatt 38-40 near Kiel’s main rail station, replacing the one-story buildings currently standing there. The new building’s ground floor will have 290 sqm of small retail and café space to stimulate business on Sophienblatt, with offices planned for the 5,460 sqm of space on the six upper floors. Building department head Doris Grondke praised the investor for having carried out a structural engineering competition. The winner is the Hamburg architectural firm Florian Fischötter Architekten (ffa). Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2019. The building should be ready for occupancy in early 2021.
