Matrix to invest €1bn in micro apartments under its own brand

Matrix Immobiliengruppe and former International Campus executive Roman Diehl have joined forces to found their own micro living brand “The Living Loop”. A management company of the same name will be responsible for marketing and selling the properties, while Matrix will take care of financing and development. The target is to build a Germany-wide portfolio of about 5,000 apartments with an investment volume of roughly €1bn over the next five years — primarily in the top 7 cities and in economically strong secondary markets like Nuremberg. The firm is looking for existing properties or construction projects upward of 8,000 sqm GFA. Initial product lines will be “affordable” co-living space for all ages, as well as apartments for commuting professionals. Both concepts will focus in particular on “offering tenants social connections”. The first project has been secured in the eastern part of Hamburg.
