Piëch company plans new construction in Mannheim

The Stuttgart-based developer Argon GmbH is setting the course for a major new construction project at Augustaanlage 65-67 in Mannheim. Speaking with TD, Argon’s managing director Dirk Wehinger explained that the existing building, which has 16,000 sqm of floor space and is currently fully let to 15 office tenants, could be replaced by a new building in two to three years at the earliest. This new building would have almost 22,000 sqm for offices, apartments and a hotel. The management is open to discussing plans for another hotel, according to the newspaper Mannheimer Morgen, which first reported on the project. “It will be predominantly offices,” said Wehinger, who manages the company together with Ferdinand Piëch Jr. The winning design of an architectural competition will be chosen in the spring of 2019, and serve as the basis for a new development plan. Argon had acquired the property from LBBW in early 2017.
