WeWork leases 2,400 sqm in Berlin and recruits for German expansion

WeWork continues to expand in Berlin. The co-working provider has announced leasing 2,400 sqm on Rosenthaler Straße 43-45, the opening is scheduled for Q2 of 2021. The lessor is DC Values, who is building a residential and retail building designed by Tchoban Voss at the address across from Hackesche Höfe. To keep driving the firm’s nationwide expansion, Head of Real Estate Heiko Himme, who joined WeWork from Cushman & Wakefield a year ago, has brought two more colleagues on board from his former employer in Hamburg. Since 6 May, Matthias Huss and Till Haubrich are also part of the WeWork team. Huss previously managed C&W’s Hamburg office. WeWork points out that more and more large companies are using its spaces, as for instance the national railway operator Deutsche Bahn, who has had 250 employees working in nearly 5,000 sqm at the WeWork Center on Stresemannstraße 123 in Berlin since December. With roughly 15,000 members, Germany is the second largest market for WeWork after Great Britain. Across Europe, WeWork currently has 100,000 members.
